Brief 2 // Yoke // Curating Exhibition

Again we were pushed for time with curating the exhibition. We had the morning of the day of the opening night to get the exhibition up and ready to be viewed that night.

We were able to go in the day before to put up the walls and structures in which the prints were to be displayed on, we also installed some lighting as the unit was very poorly lit. With help from my dad he made the frames and walls for the exhibition space and then came and put them up with the help from me.

Being able to put this up the day before was a massive help, as we were able to get in the morning after and start to hang the work straight away. The hardest part of hanging the work was going to be the frames - for this we had to mount each A3 print in the wooden toppers then attach these together with wire cable and then hang it from the frames.

Hanging the work

After spending the majority of the day with help from others within the year group we managed to get the exhibition hung in time and ready to open for the opening night. We were really pleased with how it all came together and with all the prints together it looked really good as a full body of work.

The hanging frames took a long time and we were doing them pretty much all day, but when all three were done and viewed together, I was really happy with the outcome, it was a great way to see the prints and it made the exhibition much more interesting to look at. Putting them in front of the window was a choice too as the light shone through and lit the artwork from behind, it was also a great use of the curved wall.
