Brief 16 // Typocircle // Publication Layout

The layout of the publications is important in this case. As I am creating a series of limited edition / high quality supplements, the layout must reflect this style of design and create a high quality aesthetic. In order to achieve this, I am going to use a grid, this will allow me to work the contents of each spread into a structure layout and make sure everything lines up, so it shows a quality design.

I choose to use a 6 column grid with a 5mm spacing. The 6 column grid will allow more movement within the spreads and enable me to create different layouts within the spreads of the publications, but still keep it a consistent and well structured design all the way through. Having the consistent design and one that is of a similar style, running all the way through the publication, will again enforce the idea of the high quality / limited edition design.

The master page of the publication is a simple design. Incorporating the stroked lines along the top of the page, gives a crisp and on point heading to the page. The page number is placed on the right hand page, in the top right corner, on the opposite page in the opposite corner is the title of the publication.

Close ups of the master pages.

These are examples of some of the spreads within one of the publications, to show how the content of the pages align to the grid and create the layout. You can see that it gives a varied layout throughout the pages, but one that carries a consistent design all the way through. The colour palette is also dominant throughout the publication - with the strong use of the colours throughout it creates a bold aesthetic, one that will stand out and match that of the promotional material for the live event.
