Brief 9 // Fedrigoni // Back design

Within the calendar the information of each stock needed to be present so the user / viewer knows about each of the stock. To solve this solution I looked back at the format of the calendar which I had been working to, realising that the front of the calendar is very full with the information already displayed I needed to come up with a solution to get this vital information onto the calendar.

Going back to look at the format over the next couple of days, I came up with the idea of displaying the information on the back of each day. This information would be the same for each month.

The information needed to describe the woodstock range, state which stock is being used and the available weights for that stock. This isn't alot of information and therefore wouldn't take up that much room on the back of the calendar.

This was the initial design that I created for the back design, it is simple and straight to the point. Being set in a tight grid, it all works together and brings the needed information in one area for the user to read. The grey background is on a 70% opacity, this will darken the area but also let the stock colour / texture show through.

After creating this initial design, I looked back at it and the format of the calendar, with the bottom part ripping off, it will leave a rectangular shape. This left an image of a stock sample in my head, which again I thought it links in well with the idea of showcasing the stock range.

Thinking back to the way the information is displayed, I have created this design in an up right position, so when you turn the stock around it will be shown to the user as seen above. But within the calendar and how the format of it works and the interaction of it for the user, they will turn the stock around, as it is attached and perforated at the bottom of the stock. If anything the user will pull down on the stock and flick through the months of the calendar.

To make this work better for the calendar and the user, I have flipped the back information around. This means if the daily calendar is pulled down the user can read the information but not have to detach it from the whole calendar.

Also this means when the user does rip off each daily date, they can turn the stock around and access the information, but the white space on the design will be the stock, meaning this will act as a stock sample, with the information being at the bottom of it.

It could also be used as a little note taker, with the space at the top being a good area for someone to quickly note down something whilst sat at their desk.

Below is each months back information design:
