OUGD603 // Crits

Over the course of the year so far we have had 2 crits which have been compulsory to attend and to show work within.

The first crit was on 14th November in which we took all the work we had completed up to date, for this crit I took 3 briefs which had been started / fully completed, these were Yoke exhibition, Notebooks and Iconic Cities. For the crit we had to lay our work out on tables and leave it with questions we wanted feedback on. We then left the room and let others go around the work and crit it.

Feedback
Iconic Cities -
- The Target audience is young adults, 18-25 does this appeal to this audience? Yes
- Do you think the concept of the travel tags works effectively through the design of the guide? Yes
- Would other products along with the guide be beneficial? Maybe not people don't like to take too much with them on holiday.

Iconic Cities -
- I feel the design style should be modernised if targeting at this audience
- I feel that primary research and look at the audience in depth the inform your design decisions

Notebooks -
- Would you use a notebook design like this? Yes its something really authentic and design led.
- Do you think the binding method makes it more appealing? Its a spin on an old classic binding method.
- What size notebook do you think is best? A5

Notebooks -
- Once again binding on the notebook is beautiful
- The notebook is a perfect size, love the idea of this brief suits you perfect.
- A5 - best size

Notebooks -
- Yes ideal as a gift for someone for christmas
- I prefer the smaller booklet, think its more practical. Maybe the cover should be thicker, leather would be really nice.

Yoke -
- Love the innovation through the innovation and other products.
-  All i would say is why not produce work for the exhibition.

The second crit was on 5th December, for this crit we had to take 2 completed briefs or one big brief.
For this crit I took in Iconic Cities and Yoke. Me and Eve both presented the Yoke exhibition together and Eve kept the feedback for that brief.

Iconic Cities.
I had pretty much finished this brief but wanted some feedback on how I could bind the book together and also some general feedback on thoughts about the brief.

- To bind use unotted string or fabric - with the ability to tighten or loosen. This will link in with the reference to luggage tags.

- Format is good for audience as travelling around - not too big not too small, the design aesthetics using the luggage tags is a great aesthetic and makes it different to all guides out there.

- To link the web and print element together, you could have the website as a selection tool for the guide. The user can log onto there own space and select different elements from a city or multiple cities and choose these to be printed instead of having the full guide. Creates a personal and tailored travel guide for them and their holiday.

- Could be seen as a good keepsake, pocket on front can keep memories from the trip and create into a scrapbook.
