Brief 6 // Life with Energy // Illustration Designs

Throughout this brief the main focus for all the products is the communication to the audience and how they portray the different energy facts and energy saving tips. In order to communicate this in the best possible and effective way I have decided to use a illustration style throughout all the products. The main facts are about the energy usage of certain products and electrical goods, so the illustrations will illustrate these products to make a more interesting and engaging product range.

The illustration style will be simple, but by designing the products in a simple manor it will make them more bold and strong on the page, so they stand out and clearly show what the product being communicated is.

These are the illustrations created for the information booklet, the main product of the information pack. As you can see all the illustrations have the same style and all present a simple but bold aesthetic. On the page itself these should stand out within the page design and make it clear what the information is related to.

The other products which use illustrations within them are the postcards and introduction booklet. The postcards use the same illustrations as the ones above, but the introduction booklet has different ones, these are more diagrams and help inform the audience about energy and how it effects the environment and how we live.

This first illustration is of a house that is split into the four main rooms which use the most energy; bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and living room. Within the diagram there is at least one way in which energy can be saved in each room. This diagram is the main content for the introduction booklet, but is supported by other body copy to make us the booklet.

This illustration above is used on the front cover of the introduction booklet. The illustration relates to an idea situation of living with energy and how the world could be if we took advantage of it and used energy in the correct way. The information booklet is the first product seen when the pack is opened and with this illustration I think it is visually engaging and will impact on the audience when they open it all to be presented with this first.

The whole idea of the illustrations is to be based more on the design and aesthetics that they create. This subject area is seen as boring and pretty dull, so most people don't engage with it, but by using illustrations as the ones above this will hopefully work better for people and make it more visually engaging and make them interact with the product.
