Brief 2 // Yoke // Printed Artwork

From spending the time in the print studio, we got all the prints done with time to spare!

This included:
36 x 2 colour A3 prints
12 x 2 & 3 colour A2 prints
50+ 2 colour A6 postcard prints.

As the submissions were open to other designers and the brief was very open in itself, we weren't that sure what the artwork was going to be like and if it was going to be good design or not. But what we did know was that we were controlling the printing process - this meant we could be constraints on the number of colours, type and colour of stock and which artwork was put together.

In order to make the prints consistent with each other and create a well matched set of prints to work throughout the exhibition, we choose a set number of colours and created a palette which we stock to throughout all the prints - even though we did use different shades within these colours, it still worked out to work as a large set of prints.

The stock we used we a mix of pale colours and darker colours - for the paler stock, we used the artwork which was more image based and stronger colours, for the darker stock we had to think about which colours would work on top of the stock - again taking time in deciding this made sure all the prints were a success.

The colour choice of each print was also something we had to think of, even though we were using a set palette of colours, we didn't want them all to look similar, so choosing colours which could be mixed with each other and work with more than one was essential so that we could have a number of different matched colours to create the two colour prints.
