Brief 13 // Luke Beevers Photography // Logo

From the initial stages of creating a logo with the type, I have worked up some ideas and from showing the photographer them he has decided on this logo below. I initially worked up the logo in black and white, and proposed the idea keeping it black and white to him, as this won't be subjective to any of the work / images that he produces, also using them as a signature mark on photos will be a lot easier in either black or white.

Initial Stages:

These were the first draft of the logo, which I showed the photographer to see if I was working along the right styles ad lines, he really liked this idea, but wanted 'photography' added into the logo.

I tested out a range of different ideas for the logo with 'photography' added in, this came down to the placement of the word more than anything else.

From these ideas above, I again went back to the photographer to see which of them he liked best with the placement of 'photography' added. He choose these two designs out of them all:

I then worked on the logos further to get the spacing and placement of each element right and worked on the gaps of the circle outline around the edge to even this out across the whole logo. Once I got the black version right, I could then create the outlined version, making the set of logos and signature marks.

Again I went back to the photographer with the amended design and he was happy with the design. He then thought about the idea of having 'photography' within the logo and decided that he wanted 'photographer' instead. So I changed this and created the final set of logos:

This is the final set of logos and marks. The set includes a solid black and white version, which is the primary logo - this will be best used for overlaying on photos and within the personal branding. A outlined black version is also included, which again could be used on photo's which are more subtle, it gives the photographer some variations, which they can choose between. The final lot is the signature marks, these are just the initials on there own - this is created primarily for the signature mark on the photographs, as this is small but still stands out, it can be placed on the photo to brand it has his, but again it could also be used throughout the branding.

The idea of the set of logos, instead of just the one, gives the photographer some variation and lets them decide how they want to brand each element of their own practice. I will tell him which I think each should be used for, but its down to them to put it in place.
