Brief 6 // Life With Energy // Notepad

As previously spoke about the notepad is a product in which the user will use to calculate the amount of energy they use within their household. The notepad includes products which are more likely to present within any household, but also the ones which typically use more energy than others.

The idea of having the printed notepad is that the physicality of the product will make the users go around the house and take note of the number of the products they have within the house and also how much energy each one use. By having the amount in a written form and number of products it shows a clear way in which they can cut down and save on energy by getting rid of products which aren't needed or use them less often.

The design of the notepad is very simple as this will be used for the user to write information into it. As this is the main purpose the notepad has been designed as a table. Within the design the typeface and logo has been kept the same to make this consistent with the rest of the products within the information pack. The notepad is also created in black and white so it can be produced multiple times to create a a notepad.

To create the notepad, I have used the perfect bind, binding method. This will glue all the sheets together along the top edge and make it into a notepad. In order to do this I clamped all the pages together with a piece of grey board at the back to make it more sturdy. Applying glue to top edge glues the pages together, to make sure they are close together and all stick, I used a book to weigh the pages down. After applying 3 layers the binding method is done and it is just left to dry.

This creates the notepad that is below. All the pages are all glued together and work as a notepad really well, they can be ripped off when the user has filled it in.
